“You have to check whether the setup is good enough before investing. Above all, this means checking who is co-investing in the round, how the team is organised, and how the governance is structured, so that the start-up can grow and exit successfully. At Gateway Ventures, I find it very appealing that the investors are pooled, as this gives them a stronger influence on subsequent VC funding rounds.”
